Yesterday’s broadcast on Echo of Moscow (a Russian radio station), where I debated Oleg Kashin. We had originally planned to discuss whether it makes sense to participate in regional elections, or in elections at all, but then things got even more interesting, because Oleg broadened the argument and advanced the thesis that any political activity at all right now is just playing on the Kremlin’s field, that nothing can be done to bring democratic change any closer, and that everyone should just go swimming instead of standing on soapboxes.
I can’t say this position is widespread (criticism aimed only at participating in elections is much more common), but it is precisely this view that I find most unacceptable, so this was a fairly important discussion for me.
And overall, it was an interesting conversation. Thanks to Echo of Moscow and old-timer Felgengauer for having us on air.
