You can watch three things forever: water flowing, fire burning, and V. V. Putin changing his tune in midair, saying whatever needs to be said and assuming whatever guise suits the moment.
63 days earlier:
First, you invite the guy in the green tie to the opening of a mosque in Moscow precisely because he represents an expansionist type of political leader who relies on Islam as a tool of expansion.
Then you turn it into a whole spectacle (the largest in Europe!), showing the world that Moscow—not Kazan—is also a center of Islam, and that you fully approve of the model embodied by the guy in the green tie.
And then you start babbling about deliberate support for Islamization.
Why, Putin’s middle name is “deliberate support for Islamization.” His infernal statements alone are enough—like, “some believe that Orthodoxy is closer to Islam than to Catholicism.”
I’m simply looking forward to the moment when the line changes and television screens inform us that Strelkov, Zakharchenko, and Motorola were national traitors, spreading chauvinism under the criminal slogans of the “Russian world” and stabbing Russia in the back at the very moment when it was supporting democratic change in Ukraine.
