Ah, we almost managed to outsmart the Russian judicial system and force it to consider our lawsuit against Chaika, but it fell through.
As you know, all Moscow courts refused to consider such lawsuits. Even despite an expert assessment proving that the name "Navalny" refers to me.
We decided to take advantage of the fact that many media outlets across the country had written about Chaika's ridiculous open letter, and in an atmosphere of utmost secrecy, without discussing it in the office, we filed a lawsuit against Chaika and the St. Petersburg outlet Fontanka in the Kuibyshev District Court of St. Petersburg.
The Moscow courts immediately issued rulings refusing to accept the claim, but here our lawsuit was left without progress on formal grounds. There was no document confirming payment of the court fee. Accordingly, once we provided the payment receipt, the claim should have been accepted for consideration, and we were rubbing our hands in anticipation of a court battle with Chaika in the Northern Capital (St. Petersburg).
However, we failed to outsmart anyone. According to insiders at the court, someone overly vigilant snitched about our lawsuit to the court's chief judge, who exclaimed, "What, do you want all of us here to get thrown out?" and strictly forbade the court from considering any such claims, ordering our documents returned.
We are now preparing filings for the Constitutional Court and the ECHR (European Court of Human Rights) over this denial of access to justice.
