In Barvikha, where local council elections are underway right now. The ACF (Anti-Corruption Foundation) needs a deputy there in order to gain access to information about land fraud schemes. And if one of our people gets elected, residents will also get an excellent, conscientious deputy who fears nothing, won’t steal a thing, and will work honestly for the good of the local community.
On top of that, we’re using these elections to update and refine our useful projects such as RosYama and RosZhKH.
The local authorities have already told us that “the elections have come under the Kremlin’s direct control,” but we noticed that ourselves over the weekend, when our candidates were detained by masked FSO officers (the Federal Protective Service).
The team is running a traditional campaign—direct contact with residents. On top of that (and this is ACF’s contribution), we’ve launched several investigations into local crooks, challenged every procurement violation, exposed schemes involving road funds, and started several court cases against local oligarch landowners trying to grab public land.
