Tomorrow, the Federation Council (Russia’s upper house of parliament) is expected to reappoint Chaika as prosecutor general. As you can imagine, we’re not happy about that at all, so we applied to hold a rally in the neighboring square at the same time.
Strangely enough, the rally was approved, as we were told last Friday. Apparently, they didn’t realize what exactly we were protesting against.
But now they seem to have figured it out (or noticed some of our preparations).
We’ve just received a call from the prefecture of Moscow’s Central Administrative District: We’re sorry, but we’re withdrawing the approval — it suddenly turned out that at that time and in that place we have FUN STARTS (a lighthearted children’s sports event).
