Our news project, launched with such fanfare, is continuing to take on a life of its own.
We (here I explain the news project in detail) are not even claiming that we’re exceptionally good at this or that we’re some kind of great news people and journalists, but things are starting to come together.
Various factors beyond our control (like the studio being trashed and equipment being seized) are slowing the project’s development, but it’s getting a decent audience.
Breaking exclusive stories is not one of our goals at this initial stage, but we do already get them from time to time:
I have no doubt that Navalny.LIVE News will make it into the top ten largest remaining Russian news outlets still capable of telling at least some truth.
I reread that last sentence and honestly don’t know whether to laugh or cry. Making the top ten right now, frankly, isn’t hard. Meduza, Ekho (Echo of Moscow), Mediazona, The New Times, Novaya. Where else does an editorial team write what it wants without worrying about crossing the “double solid line” (a Russian metaphor for forbidden boundaries), the authorities, self-censorship, “investors and shareholders,” and so on? I’ve definitely forgotten someone, but it would only be a couple of outlets.
Obviously, we can’t compare ourselves with giants like Ekho (Echo of Moscow) or Meduza, but we’ll do our part of this worthwhile work.
Right now, we need more people.

A general requirement for all staff: courage, commitment to ideals, a desire to change the world for the better, and hatred of crooks and thieves.
