I applaud Yashin.

At last, a municipal official is demanding the obvious from Sobyanin: an explanation of why street cleaners actually earn 18,000–25,000 rubles a month, while City Hall reports 45,000.

That is an obvious lie.

Moscow has an enormous budget. It is one of the richest cities in the world.

But even the most basic functions are not being carried out. The snowfall was three weeks ago. The streets are still full of snowbanks taller than I am. What kind of mess is this?

People used to joke about it, but today it can be said for certain: under Luzhkov (former Moscow mayor Yuri Luzhkov), the city was cleaned better.

Apart from PR, social media bots, and sponsored posts from paid bloggers, Sobyanin’s City Hall cannot do anything at all. They hired a bunch of slackers in glasses, with beards and paper coffee cups, and yet the snow goes uncleared for weeks. Though really, there is nothing new about that.

These days, if you want the snow cleared quickly outside your building, you apparently have to be the Australian ambassador:

I urge everyone to support Yashin, share his video, and join together in demanding answers from Sobyanin.
