The health of Alexei Navalny, who has been receiving treatment at Charité, Berlin’s university hospital, since August 22, 2020, has improved.
The patient’s medically induced coma, maintained with medication, has been ended. He will be gradually taken off mechanical ventilation. He is responding to speech. Nevertheless, the long-term effects of the severe poisoning still cannot be ruled out.
The treating physicians are in constant contact with Yulia Navalnaya. This update on his condition has been published with her consent. Charité believes that making Alexei’s health status public is in his best interests.
