On February 2, a court hearing will decide whether Navalny is released or sent to prison for a long time. We know this hearing is unlikely to be fair, and that only public pressure can influence its outcome. That is why we are announcing a new nationwide protest on the eve of the hearing — January 31.
There has already been some response to the January 23 protests. On January 28, a court hearing will be held to consider the appeal of what happened in the Khimki “court” (a reference to the improvised hearing held at a police station in Khimki, near Moscow). Lawyers confirm that this is highly unusual: sometimes such appeals are scheduled only after the main trial has already taken place.
