The Moscow “Voters’ Strike” protest took place on January 28, 2018, on Tverskaya Street. Alexei Navalny managed to come out to meet the participants, but he was detained on the way to Pushkin Square; from the police station, he later wrote to supporters that they were taking to the streets not for him, but for their own future. This gallery captures one of the key episodes of the campaign after he was denied registration: Navalny was barred from the election, but people still came out into the streets. It was an important moment in the shift from a campaign for participation in the election to a campaign against its imitation.
