To answer the obvious question right away: no, my treatment did not consist of people punching me in the right eye. The doctor in Barcelona (which turned out to be one of Europe’s centers for ophthalmology) said he would try to fix my eye, and yesterday he operated on it. They’ve just taken off the hellish bandage, but I still look pretty peculiar. On the bright side, at least I can do without any pirate accessories now. I’ve been told, unfortunately, that my vision will take several months to recover. For now, with my right eye I can only read the top line on the eye chart (the one with those famous letters Ш and Б).
