Every Russian lawyer dreams of appearing in a court where victory or defeat depends on you and your legal position, rather than on what the judge was told over the phone. In that sense, appearing before a hearing of the Grand Chamber of the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) is a huge deal. I spoke there today in five of my cases involving detentions at public protests, but in reality, of course, I was defending all Russian citizens who refuse to give up their right to freedom of assembly. #ECHR #January28
