Maxim Galkin @maxgalkinru asked me a question. I’m happy to respond: Maxim, thank you for raising such an important issue. However, I cannot agree with you. You present it as if Vladimir Solovyov is simply an entertainment celebrity, something like the American Oprah. He earns a lot, so he can buy homes wherever he likes. That is not the case. Solovyov is a state propagandist on state television. He is everywhere now and never leaves the screen not because he is talented, but because television in this country is monopolized by the state. Solovyov is more willing than others to lie, and that is why they keep him on air. If there were real competition among talk shows and their hosts, Solovyov would be where he belongs: a third-rate radio host. Which, in fact, is exactly what he was before all the real talk-show stars were driven off our television and their programs were shut down for reasons of censorship. Maxim, you speak of the ratings and profits that Solovyov brings to the channel "Rossiya-1" (Russia-1), but I look at our country’s budget figures and see that "Rossiya-1" is deeply unprofitable. Every year it receives a state subsidy. 24.6 billion rubles last year. 24 BILLION, Maxim. That would have been enough to pay for operations for all the sick children in the country. But instead it went to fees for various Solovyovs, and then turned into villas on Italy’s Lake Como. So it is not Solovyov who is bringing in the money. All of us—the taxpayers—(you too, Maxim) are putting money into his pocket. And I do not want to pay for the luxurious Italian lifestyle of this liar, hypocrite, and scoundrel. There is no hatred of the rich here, no Bolshevism. Just common sense. The video was taken from the TV Rain channel (an independent Russian TV channel), and the logo was cropped out not out of ill intent, but because Instagram cut it off when making the video square.
