Uncertainty is irritating. This morning, before the court hearing, I had a plan with two scenarios: 1. (the most likely one) I get arrested for 30 days. Everyone has instructions on what to do and how to do it without me. I still make it to both the Rammstein concert and my wife’s birthday. 2. I only get fined. Then I keep focusing on the campaign against United Russia (the ruling political party) ahead of the regional elections on September 8. I make it to the concert and the birthday too. But then—just like that—the court postponed the case for a week. So now I’m in limbo for another week, not knowing where I’ll be on July 1: at work or in a cell. And the main thing is: there’s a very good chance I’ll miss both Rammstein and Yulia’s birthday. Maybe this is Putin’s plan after all: to make sure I miss another Rammstein concert in Moscow.
