Some thugs run up to the signature collection points carrying — sorry for the disgusting detail — a bucket of shit. They throw it at the signature gatherers, shouting, “You’re against United Russia (the Kremlin-backed ruling party) — here you go.” Then they run to a parked ambulance (!) nearby and drive away. Needless to say, reporting this to the police does nothing. The police are fully assisting this shameful, degenerate idea of Sobyanin’s. But we are normal people, aren’t we? Tell me, can anyone vote for a government that does something this vile? Can we keep pretending this is being organized by “some forces,” and not by Moscow City Hall under Sobyanin’s leadership? Can we really stay out of the broader campaign against United Russia and in support of Smart Voting (an opposition tactical voting strategy), if these people with buckets of shit want to become deputies — our representatives in the city parliament? At the very least, on principle, go and sign for Sobol if you live in Khamovniki, Arbat, or Presnya. If you live somewhere else, donate to her campaign or come work as a signature gatherer.
