Anyone who has been to Kazan will agree: it’s a beautiful city. Everything is well kept, well maintained, with developed infrastructure. Simply beautiful. But in reality, all of this is just a facade hiding a huge gaping hole. Beneath the capital’s outward prosperity lies a monstrous, predatory system. The people of Tatarstan have been deceived and robbed. For 30 years—longer even than Putin and Lukashenko—one clan has remained in power here, and its members, at the expense of their own people’s well-being, have become some of the richest people in the country, and perhaps in the world. Billion-ruble bribes, palaces that shocked even us, private jets, and the lifestyle of kings—this is what Tatarstan’s president, Rustam Minnikhanov, sold his people for. On September 13, Tatarstan will hold presidential elections and elections to several city councils. Vote for anyone except Minnikhanov. And if you live in Kazan, Naberezhnye Chelny, or Nizhnekamsk, sign up for “Smart Voting” (link in profile), and we will send you the name of the candidate for your local council who has every chance of defeating the United Russia candidate.
