Actors, writers, directors, journalists, and other cultural figures have written an open letter to Vladimir Putin demanding the immediate release of Alexei Navalny. Among the signatories are Jean Reno, Dominic West, Mikhail Baryshnikov, Bill Nighy, Margaret Atwood, and Jonathan Franzen. The letter was also signed by many of those who, two years ago during Navalny’s hunger strike, called for doctors to be allowed to see Alexei — including Benedict Cumberbatch, Jude Law, J.K.
