I went to the debate organized by MK (Moskovsky Komsomolets, a Russian newspaper). My impressions: Maria Dolgikh—heavily promoted by the SPS people, and runner-up in the Miss Russia pageant—was silent as a fish. And they had specially brought her in from Perm just for these debates. The Youth Public Chamber team looked like they had stepped straight out of that famous Gaultier ad. The host was extremely glamorous, and his name sounded a lot like "Erich Maria Remarque." I really wanted to speak against the "liberal team" in support of the Youth Public Chamber, but 1447 and yashin talked me out of it and said I would bury the democrats' coalition. For some reason, the SPS people and the LDPR brought in people hired for money. They stood there holding flags and suffering in the heat. The young LDPR guy was genuinely cool. Basically a mini Zhirik (Vladimir Zhirinovsky, the nationalist politician). He accused everyone of selling out Russia, and he did it with real passion. The next generation is coming along. I even applauded him. It was never clear who won. When it got really, really hot, the host simply said: "We're done, I'm glad some constructive appeals were made."
