Last night, Nikita Mikhalkov was on TV. He made quite an impression on me when, looking at me from the screen, he said: "I am not an intelligentsia type, I am an aristocrat — and those are different things." and also: "The people love power and intellect, but they hate strength and wisdom. And it is precisely strength and wisdom that are inherent in us, the aristocrats." Honestly, it seems to me that Mikhalkov still thinks he is acting in the film A Cruel Romance. He has inhabited that role forever.
