A 63-year-old pensioner from the village of Gremyachka in the Ryazan region was killed while trying to catch fish in a local lake using a high-voltage power line running near the water, RIA Novosti reports, citing a spokesperson for the regional Interior Ministry directorate. As the Ryazan city website notes, this is what drove him to use unconventional—or, more simply, poaching—methods of catching fish. "To fish, the man chose a poaching method that proved fatal for him: he threw two wires onto the power line running near the lake, tied the ends of the wires to wooden sticks, and lowered them into the water.
