*We have to admit that corruption has real, physical victims. Some are already dead, and some are still alive. Russian businesspeople. They are in prisons, in penal colonies. Their sentences are enormous, because they must not be allowed to speak. They are dangerous because they know how their assets, their property, were taken from them—and by whom. The corrupt want these people to remain isolated for as long as possible. *In Vedomosti (a Russian business daily), there is an appeal and a signature drive in support of amnesty for imprisoned entrepreneurs. It deserves support. It is the right idea and a good attempt to organize a public campaign. I signed it, although I had to cross myself and spit over my left shoulder at the sight of the first signature. Update. I was mistaken. It was not the first signature, but the last one—the site refreshed and it moved down. Everything is fine. All is safe in the galaxy.
