Statement from the Management of Legion Sports Club The management of Legion Sports Club is conducting a thorough investigation into the incident involving the club’s fighter, Rustam Khabilov, which is being actively discussed online. First and foremost, the club’s management apologizes to the offended young woman for Rustam’s actions, as well as to the entire online community. At the same time, it is important to be objective: the actions of one of the club’s fighters do not necessarily reflect the position of the club itself. Having watched the video, Rustam’s teammates condemn his behavior. But let us not place all the blame on Khabilov. It is not certain that Rustam’s degrading hand gesture, allegedly directed at the girls, was in fact meant that way. It could have been a gesture aimed at someone sitting at the same table with him, and all this uproar may be nothing more than someone’s personal vendetta against Rustam, one that has fueled nationalist attacks not only against the fighter himself but against Caucasian athletes as a whole. In any case, the management of Legion Sports Club will later provide an objective assessment of what happened and asks everyone not to make overly categorical judgments based on what is seen in this video.
