On June 12, as part of the Russian Federal Drug Control Service’s campaign to promote healthy lifestyles and a strong anti-drug mindset in society, the eighth annual children’s and youth track-and-field super-marathon kicked off under the slogan: “The Golden Ring of Russia (a historic ring of ancient cities) — Children Against Drugs — I Choose Sport!” The super-marathon runners will finish on June 25, on the eve of the International Day Against Drug Abuse. ///////// * A senior operative of the state drug control agency, suspected of drug trafficking, has been detained by officers of the FSB directorate for Omsk Region, the Investigative Committee’s press service reports. On June 14, 2010, near the Atrium-Kino movie theater in the city of Omsk, a senior operative of the Federal Drug Control Service for Omsk Region was detained for attempted sale of a large quantity of heroin. According to investigators, the suspect sold 0.74 grams of heroin to an acquaintance. //////// * Update. Out of curiosity, I went to the website of the Drug Control Service for Omsk Region. It turns out that "from June 1 to 30, 2010, an all-Russian anti-drug campaign titled "Report Where They Sell Death" will be held in Omsk Region at the initiative of the Federal Drug Control Service.
