The tender for creating a website for the Bolshoi Theatre appeared on RosPil a few weeks ago, right after several media outlets reported on its announcement:

The Bolshoi Theatre of Russia is commissioning the development and launch of a new website for the Bolshoi Theatre of Russia as part of a broader set of events dedicated to the reopening of its historic stage after reconstruction and restoration. ** Starting contract price: 5.4 million rubles** Here It drew a great deal of attention from project participants, who picked the tender apart piece by piece and filed several complaints. The result: yesterday the tender was canceled. Notice of cancellation. The official reason given for canceling the tender sounds amazing. Screenshot:

Some brilliant official unknown to us managed to describe with astonishing precision not only the situation with the website contract, but the entire system of public administration as well: "does not provide a clear understanding of the nature of the services being rendered" So there won't be any talk of "because of you, the Bolshoi was left without a website," let me add a few words of my own about the situation: I have no doubt that the Bolshoi's website should be beautiful and magnificent. It should be a very expensive and powerful website. Maybe 5.4 million rubles, maybe even more. It should have photos and videos of Volochkova ballerinas, male ballet dancers, little ballet students; prima donnas and handsome tenors; virtual tours and fountains; conductors and horses on the roof. Everything should be there. Let's just allocate more money and hold a demonstrably honest tender. At the same time, we'll boost the site's traffic and promote the Bolshoi Theatre among internet users. Right now the site looks like this. And finally, the latest on fundraising for RosPil. Results of the first week of fundraising: 3,532,273 rubles and 72 kopecks. All the money was raised domestically. Unfortunately, we haven't connected PayPal yet (but we will).

This is very cool and unprecedented for Russia. Many thanks to the many thousands of people supporting us. Those who want to join in can find the details here. I'll post the announcement about recruiting lawyers on Monday.
