“Carousel” is a method of large-scale election fraud in which specially hired people vote multiple times at different polling stations. They are driven around the city by bus from one polling station to another with pre-prepared absentee certificates (fake or illegally issued).
Judging by the flood of messages like, "they’re recruiting volunteers in our dorm to vote, paying 1,500 rubles for the whole day" (about $50 at the time), "carousel" is going to be one of the most widespread methods of election rigging. And as we know, between 15,000 and 30,000 thugs are being brought into Moscow. Who can guarantee they’ll vote once rather than five times? Two excellent and civic-minded citizens, Georgy Alburov alburov and Vadim Korovin, have decided to launch a project tomorrow called "Anti-Carousel." Its main goal is to identify these very same "wandering voters," document violations, and then publicize them and hold those responsible accountable. Briefly, the project is structured as follows: Headquarters, which also serves as the information center Crews Agents Information platforms: the blog antikarusel.ru, Twitter There is already a headquarters where information will be collected. The headquarters will assess, process, and relay information to the crews. More volunteers are still needed for the project. If you didn’t manage to sign up as an election observer, this is a great chance to take part in a worthwhile cause. Crews. Right now the guys are putting crews together; they will be handling the hardest part of the work. A crew (1 car, 1–3 people, a photo/video camera) receives information from us, arrives on site, documents violations, follows the bus, and so on. Ideally, crews should be formed independently (from relatives, friends, and acquaintances). If you’re on your own or can’t organize a crew yourself, get in touch — they’ll help. Agents. These can be either polling-station observers or ordinary citizens. We need anyone who can report any useful information.
