Ah, what a marvelous document turned up in the materials of the "Navalny case," buried under a heap of glaringly obvious lies. Remember the splendid public hysterics that Mr. Bastrykin staged for the TV cameras right at a meeting of the Investigative Committee?

http://youtu.be/H3u7BKl6oKU As if to say: they hid everything from us. They quietly shut down the Navalny case behind our backs. Tut-tut. THERE WILL BE NO MERCY. Now take a look:
As it turns out, Bastrykin—the old crook, not only an old crook and a terror to all dog owners, but also quite a dramatic actor— issued instructions to place the inquiry under his personal supervision, with two reports a month, as far back as February 21, 2011. At that point, no criminal case had even been opened yet (it was opened only in May 2011). There was only some shady file, hastily thrown together after my 2010 post about Transneft. So he knew everything perfectly well, he was being briefed on the case twice a month (!), and yet on July 5, 2012, he was shouting, "How could this happen? They hid it all from me!" He must have practiced in front of a mirror: "How exactly should I say 'THERE WILL BE NO MERCY' so that everyone won’t laugh, but will instead be intimidated by my belligerence, my resolute face, and my golden epaulettes?" I spent two days sitting here thinking: what on earth happened in February that made them start scurrying around like rats on a hot griddle? A special letter, "personal supervision", "report on the 1st and 15th of every month", "department for the investigation of especially important cases". Practically another "Kushchyovskaya"" (a reference to the notorious Kushchyovskaya massacre case). Of course they dislike us intensely, but they fabricate even bigger cases than this without such close attention from the Investigative Committee’s top brass. So where was the sharp poke with a stick that hit such a sore spot? I simply went back and reread my LiveJournal posts from February 2011. In February 2011, we started the first—and very successful—fundraiser for RosPil. We won a court case against Transneft, and so on, but that clearly wasn’t it. And then I found it. One of my all-time favorite posts, written completely by accident. February 15, 2011. "United Russia is suing me". More than eight thousand comments, a popular poll, and a new name for one political party that, from that day on (with your help), stuck to it for good:
Since then, the case has grown so much that there are now 12 investigators permanently assigned to the investigative team, four more cases have been spun off from it, and it now involves not only me but my relatives as well. If someone had said back then that Boris Nemtsov would be summoned for questioning and Leonid Gozman too, for that matter), you could only have twirled a finger at your temple. Funny, isn’t it, how things sometimes turn out?
