It is very encouraging to see that ACF’s St. Petersburg branch, established on October 30, 2013, is working energetically, going after local crooks, and getting results. For example, based on the findings of an inspection of landscaping and public works in the Decembrists’ Island municipal district, during which ACF’s St. Petersburg team uncovered embezzlement totaling 19 million rubles (about US$540,000 at the time), a criminal case has been opened against the contractor under Article 159, Part 3, “Fraud.”
So far, only part of the expert analysis has been completed, which is why the case has been opened only against the contractor. An examination of the asphalt is still ahead—that is where most of the money was siphoned off—so the list of defendants will expand soon. Join their work, dear Petersburgers.
