I noticed something this morning in Kolomenskoye (a historic park and former royal estate in Moscow). We went there early, while there were still not many people around. I was out running, and Yulia and Zakhar, worn down by quarantine, were taking a walk. They put on masks whenever other people were passing nearby. ⠀ So here’s the thing: people really do recoil from anyone wearing a mask. Like they’re plague carriers. They see them and move to the other side of the path in advance. From a quarantine point of view, that’s actually not a bad thing—in our country, people generally stand far too close to each other, and very few understand the concept of personal space—but it’s still very funny.
