If you want to get involved in politics and take part in the "democratic movement," my advice is: under no circumstances join any of the existing organizations—God forbid, especially parties. Stay away from the "first-wave democrats" and the people who go, "why, we were already doing this back in '87..." The less you know about this snake pit, the more likely you are to still have the desire to do something. The same goes for nationalism. I'm glad that, despite always having nationalist views, I never really crossed paths with the "professional nationalists." That scene is a mess too. It turns out there are these so-called "northwestern separatists." They consider themselves nationalists and advocate the secession of some strange place called Ingermanland (a historical region around St. Petersburg). When I said in the comments on the NAROD Manifesto that it was the first time I'd ever heard the word, some freaks practically tore me apart and bombarded me with replies like: "goodbye, Mr. Navalny. good luck to you in the Muscovite barn. we Petrograders will manage just fine without you." Yikes.
