As a resident of Maryino (a large residential district in Moscow) who spends at least three hours a day stuck in traffic, I couldn’t say no. Appeal: *The residents of the city of Dolgoprudny urgently need your support. Every day, thousands of people try in vain to get to work, and in the evening they face the same struggle trying to get back home. As it happens, the city is effectively a kind of island. On one side there is the Moscow Canal, and on the other, the Savyolovo line of the Moscow Railway, with only two exits via railroad crossings that are constantly closed. The only way to leave the city without running into those obstacles is along a broken road through the Levoberezhny district of Khimki, past a gigantic dump that has long since become a local landmark. The MKAD (Moscow Ring Road) is only about 3 kilometers (1.9 miles) away, but guys, this is absolute HELL! If you leave home at 6:30 a.m., that’s it, my friend — you’ve already spent too long lounging in bed. Welcome to our cozy little traffic jam! A six-lane road, apparently built for the sake of embezzlement, narrows into two lanes of premium potholes. Our city’s mayor, Oleg Ivanovich Troitsky, is, in our considered opinion, a model representative of the Party of Crooks and Thieves (a derogatory nickname for the ruling United Russia party). It seems his work as head of the city is limited to idly admiring some offshore account with six zeroes in it. A great many people only get to see their children on weekends. We get behind the wheel at 6:15 a.m. and get back, if we’re lucky, by 8:30 p.m.; if we’re not lucky, by 10:00 p.m. People have been forced into inhuman conditions, and they are already at the breaking point. Perhaps only the residents of Maryino can truly understand us. On April 16 at 11:00 a.m. at 11 Pervomayskaya Street in Dolgoprudny, and at 12:00 noon in the City Park by the monument to the Lost Coachman, we will be collecting signatures for numerous complaints that will be sent to every level of authority, from the mayor to the president. And in a month, if we do not receive a response that satisfies us, we will block the road. We want people considering buying an apartment in our city not to be deceived — it is the equivalent of buying housing in Mordor. We desperately need people to know about us.
