..... this morning, residents of Yekaterinburg watched a traffic police car with unit number 3-802 race through the city, escorting a BMW 745Long with license plate A055AA96. The traffic cops repeatedly drove into the oncoming lane to overtake other vehicles. One of these maneuvers was carried out directly on a pedestrian crossing on Rodonitovaya Street. According to eyewitnesses, the traffic police car, with its flashing beacon on and blaring its siren, nearly ran over a young woman crossing the street. Part of the route taken by the “motorcade” was recorded by a driver’s dashcam, and the compromising video was posted online. At the end of the trip, the traffic cops and the foreign-made car stopped near 4 Shvartsa Street. Men in suits got out of the BMW, and a schoolboy—apparently a 2nd- or 3rd-grader—got into their car. The “motorcade” then headed back in the opposite direction. As Novy Region was able to establish, the traffic police car providing escort services to the BMW’s passengers is assigned to the regional traffic patrol regiment, while the foreign car with plate A055AA96 belongs to the motor pool of the Sverdlovsk regional government. This is the same Minister Basargin whose ministry bought a building in Moscow from Vekselberg at four times the price. There it is, the formula of power: We’ll steal money from these cattle, and then we’ll use flashing lights to shove them out of the way too—so they don’t interfere with us driving our grandkids to school.
